01 Who we are

Earthwork built on accountability.

Before a foundation is poured or a road is paved, someone has to get the ground right. That is our work. PGH Excavating Inc. is an Enumclaw-based specialty trade contractor focused on the first and most critical phase of construction — the earthwork that everything else depends on.

We work alongside general contractors, custom home builders, developers, property owners and public agencies, bringing well-maintained equipment, experienced operators and a straightforward way of doing business.

  • Owner-led on every job. Our president stays involved from the first site walk to final grade.
  • Plans followed to the tenth. Grades are staked, checked and verified as we go.
  • Clean, safe job sites. Daily safety briefings, erosion control and tidy work zones.
  • Honest, itemized pricing. Clear scopes and change orders in writing — never surprises.
About PGH Excavating
03 How we work

Four steps.
Zero guesswork.

A disciplined process keeps your schedule, budget and site under control. You'll always know what's happening, who's on site and what comes next.

Step01

Site Walk & Consult

We meet on site, review drawings, soils information and access, and listen to your goals and constraints.

Step02

Detailed Proposal

You receive an itemized scope, schedule and price — including haul-off, materials and permitting needs.

Step03

Mobilize & Execute

Equipment arrives, erosion control goes in and our operators get to work, verifying grades at every stage.

Step04

Final Grade & Handoff

We walk the finished site with you, clean up and hand off a pad, trench or road ready for the next trade.

07 Questions

Straight answers

A few of the questions we hear most often from property owners and builders. Don't see yours? Give us a call.

How do I get an estimate for my project?

Call 202-963-1180 or send a request through our contact page. We'll schedule a site visit, review any plans or engineering you have, and provide a written, itemized proposal.

Do you work with homeowners or only contractors?

Both. We work directly with homeowners on new builds, additions, driveways and drainage problems, and we sub to general contractors, builders and developers on larger projects.

Can you help with permits and engineering?

We work from approved plans and coordinate closely with your engineer, surveyor and the local jurisdiction. We can advise on what permits are typically needed for your scope and help line up the right professionals.

How does Washington's wet season affect excavation?

Rain changes soil behavior. We plan sequencing, temporary erosion and sediment control, and material choices around the weather so your site stays stable, compliant and workable year-round.

Do you haul away spoils and debris?

Yes. Haul-off of excess soil, stumps, concrete and demolition debris can be included in your scope, as can delivery of imported fill, crushed rock and drain rock.
